With the opening of this years craft-brew festivals happening this month I thought it would be an adequate time to inform everyone of the fun that can be had at these festivals... The idea for the brewers that will be at the festivals is to market their products and since the market is small the price tends to be slightly elevated when compared to the SAB standards. The pleasure of being able to taste these (hand crafted) brews however is enough to make any alcohol lover fall head over heels for these exotic tastes. The range of tastes of beer alone are astonishing and the brutal flavors ambush all taste buds leaving the drinker intoxicated with flavor, and possibly inebriated which in all honestly is partly the point of these festivals...
The first festival of the year will be the Clarens Craft Beer Festival which is taking place later this month for the fourth time. The festival is in Clarens Village Square, in the Freestate, and includes 16 of SA's finest brewers serving their freshest produce, over three days (Friday 21st of February to Sunday 23rd of February). Live music and fine food will accompany you on your route. the entry fee is still to be confirmed but I'll add that as soon as I know :). If you have nothing to do over this period i would greatly suggest a stop by the famous Festival as it kicks off this years craft-beer festivals and is sure to be a great one!
Nate...
